Location: The event takes place at the "Parade Grounds" in Washington Park, Albany. This large field is situated on the Willett St. side. Enter from any park entrance and follow the Washington Park Road to the "Parade Grounds."
Parking Information:
Thurlow Terrace Lot: Generously donated by UAlbany for our event , this lot is adjacent to Washington Park. It's approximately a ten-minute walk to the festivities.
Washington Park Road: There's also parking available here as well. Traffic guides will be stationed to help direct you to available spots.
Activities & Entertainment:
Kids Zone: Enjoy the Bubble Man, Pony Rides, Building Blocks, Build your own edible Creations by Wholefoods, Lawn Games, and more.
Live Music: Groove to the tunes of Nisky Dixie Cats.
Farmers Market: Washington Park Farmers Market will set up stalls along with various our food trucks and other vendors.
Wellness Resource Exhibitors: NAMI has invited a variety of wellness resource exhibitors for your benefit.
Team Contest: Dress up your teams in creative uniforms, costumes, or T-shirts and compete for the "Best In Team Outfit" title. Winners will take home a special prize!
Event Schedule:
9:00 am: Registration / Check-In (Please note: All participants, including children and those who've pre-registered online need to check in.)
10:00 am: Opening Ceremony
10:30 am: Walk Begins (Main route is 1.5 miles with alternative distance routes available)
11:30 pm: Closing Ceremony (Contest winners will be announced, and other prizes will be awarded)
1:00 pm: Closing of the festivities
Other Important Notes:
Donations: We accept donations on the day of the walk, including credit card payments. Cash or checks (made out to NAMI Capital Region NY) are also welcomed.
Weather: The event will proceed rain or shine! Severe weather conditions are the only exception.
Fundraising Rewards: Participants who raise $100+ will receive a NAMIWalks T-shirt. Other recognition prizes will be given at various fundraising levels.
