Save the date for NAMIWalks Northwest, the West Coast's largest mental health event, sponsored by Providence Health & Services!
In 2020, we are celebrating 18 years of NAMIWalks, the nation's largest series of mental health awareness and fundraising events. Join us to fight for mental health parity, and make a statement that mental health matters, and that no one should be ashamed to seek help.
NAMIWalks is a fun, family-friendly event and there is no cost to register.
NAMIWalks Northwest is going virtual in May! We may not be able to gather in person during Mental Health Awareness Month as planned, but we will gather in spirit and solidarity. And not just in the Northwest, but across the nation. On Saturday, May 30, we are joining several other Walk sites from coast-to-coast to make a unified statement that mental health matters more than ever, leveraging technology and collective action to connect to a greater cause. We call this year's effort NAMIWalks Northwest Your Way. It's like our regular NAMIWalks, only with a greater reach: the reach of your imagination and the breadth of your compassion.
Know this: Our mission continues.
Instead of canceling the walk, which would reduce funding when our programs and advocacy in Oregon and Southwest Washington are needed more than ever, we are pleased to announce a walk for our times, NAMIWalks Northwest Your Way. Know this: No matter what, our mission continues. We encourage participants to become “virtual walkers” and take that day to do something meaningful for you in connection with our mission. Make this event your own: You can walk around your block, you can walk around your garden, you can walk around your house. You can form a team and see who is the funniest, or most artistic. You can self-fundraise while you self-quarantine, or do it as part of a team.We will circulate ideas for everyone and provide sample online fundraising messages. We hope you and your family stay safe and healthy, and we have faith that together we will overcome this health threat.
We will continue to ensure that people living with serious mental illness, as well as their family members and loved ones, do not experience isolation.
