Team Captain Stomp Out Stigma SJC NAMIWalks Northern California

Hello once again Family and Friends. Welcome to my personal NAMIWalks page. This is my third year participating and I am once again excited!! I have appreciated ALL of the wonderful support and encouraging messages I have received from my loved ones and friends. I hope you will help support me in my volunteer work and my efforts.

I am walking for NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, because the work they do is very important to me. As many of you may or may not know, my volunteer time and energy is dedicated to NAMI San Joaquin County. As the Board President,  I truly enjoy the volunteer work I am doing.  I enjoy making a difference for those, like myself, who deal with depression and anxiety but, mostly I enjoy advocating toward ending the stigma behind mental illness and for those who are challenged with mental illness.

Often times at the high school I teach at and in society as a whole, I am often faced with a student or an individual who faces mental health challenges (depression, bipolar, PTS, etc.). I am a strong advocate for the campaign against this stigma, that is generally involved with mental illness. I have recently started and I am the Advisor for the High School Campus Club, at the school I teach at. This has been such a rewarding experience. The ability to encourage and support young lives in ways other than teaching Mathematics (which we all know is not often an easy task :-) but definitely rewarding).

As the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization, NAMI provides support, education and advocacy for millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI is a lifeline for many people and families who need a place to turn. NAMI gives them help and hope.

Donating to NAMI through my page is easy, fast and secure. Your donation directly supports the mission of NAMI, and it means a lot to me personally.  I hope that you will support me in my efforts.

I love and appreciate each and everyone of you.

 Thank you for your support.

~Edna
