20 percent of us. Over 40 million American adults.
We all know someone.
Yet, despite its prevalence, the subject is difficult to touch.
Because on any given morning some 40 million Americans, and all of us who love them,
Wake up and start another day in a struggle to survive with mental illness.
Yet, while any given day comes with another struggle, it also brings with it another opportunity to say together, that, at least this far:
We made it.
And we all know that there are some of us who have to make it on our own more than most, due to an unavailability of proper care, the sky-rocketing costs of treatment, or due to that specific type of shame that impedes our support.
But together we can raise awareness, advocate for resources, and fight to curtail stigma. Together, we can make it.
