As we continue to move forward through the public health crisis we're facing, NAMIWalks will look a little different this year...
With the health and safety of all in mind, NAMI Waukesha will not be hosting a large, in-person walk. Instead, on October 10, 2020 we'll join in solidarity with other NAMIWalks groups from around the country for a National Day of Hope. Our format this year will have both in-person and virtual elements, but our goal remains the same: to foster community, raise funds and build awareness for Mental Health. All funds raised for our NAMIWalks Your Way event stay right here with NAMI Waukesha, allowing us to provide continued support, education, and advocacy programs for all those in our community impacted by mental health conditions. Regardless of how you choose to participate, be assured that you will be making a difference in our community and changing lives!
When our collective mental health needs are at their greatest, NAMI’s services are more important more than ever.

What is NAMIWalks Your Way?
On October 10, NAMIWalks will be a virtual experience and joined by NAMIWalks across the country. NAMIWalks Your Way means what it sounds like: participants get to make NAMIWalks their own. You can walk a 5K—through your neighborhood, around your backyard, on your treadmill. Or, you can do something else meaningful and fun to celebrate our virtual walk day. Be sure to take photos and videos to share your activity on a favorite social media with the link to your walk fundraising page and the hashtags #NotAlone and #MentalHealthForAll. Together, we can make a difference for people affected by mental illness.
What participants are doing on event day:
- Walking 3,500 steps for a 5K their way
- Planning a craft day with their kids
- Practicing self-care with a favorite hobby: yoga, gardening, knitting
- Doing a 5K on the treadmill or stationary bike
- Hosting a virtual paint and sip party
The only limit of NAMIWalks Your Way is the reach of your imagination and the breadth of your compassion. Share your ideas with us!

If you're interested in taking the next steps toward making a difference for those impacted by mental health conditions here in our community, join us for a fun gathering at one of our free events, either in person or virtually! There is no cost to participate in this event - it is free for all Team Captains, Sponsors, and anyone who wants to jump-start their fundraising, learn more about our virtual event and gain tips for building an all-star team.
