Where exactly will the NAMIWalk take place?
The 2017 NAMIWalks LAC "playing field" will be Grand Park's Event Lawn (Block 4), the block between Broadway and Spring Streets.
Pedestrian Entrances to the park are located at
221 North Broadway and 227 North Spring Street.
The 5K Walk Route will be shared shortly.
Is public transportation convenient to the park?
Yes! You can take the Metro Red or Purple Lines to Civic Center/Grand Park Station.
Where do visitors park?
Parking is available at Grand Park, at the Music Center across the street, at Disney Concert Hall and at Our Lady of Angels Cathedral on Temple. The all day rate on the weekend is $10.00. The first 200 arrivals will be at no charge in the Music Center Parking Lot #14.
Dogs are allowed in the park but must be on a leash at all times. A dog run on the Event Lawn (near the Spring Street entrance) offers an off-leash area for dogs and their owners.
Are there public restrooms?
Yes, there are public restrooms located adjacent to overhang on the southwest corner of the Event Lawn (near the food trucks) and additional portable toilets.
What time does this all happen?
Registration opens at 8:00 AM. The Pre-Walk program at 9:15 AM. The 5K will begin by 10:00 AM. Best Team T-shirt and Best Dressed NAMIWalks Dog contests will start at 11:30 AM.
A show of spirit is welcome -- Team T-shirts, football attire, comfortable gear.
Wear sunscreen and hats or visors.
If you are a participant who has raised or donated $100 or more, then you can get your NAMIWalks T-Shirt and wear it.
Can I make or bring a sign?
By all means! You can bring one or make one there.
Can I still order a Kilometer Sign?
Yes, but by Monday September 25th.
Can I bring my kids, my grandkids?
Yes, there's a playground, and other activities they will enjoy.
What if I get hungry?
There will be some fantastic food trucks on site! You can also bring a picnic.
What should I be doing NOW to help TACKLE Mental Illness?
We need your help to reach our goal! The money you donate and raise helps our local affiliates provide education, support and advocacy for people impacted by mental illness. If you do the following, we will get into good field position!
