What is NAMIWalks Jacksonville?
NAMIWalks Jacksonville will be an in-person event, in compliance with the local health department COVID-19 guidelines, with a virtual experience, united with NAMIWalks across the country. Local participants will meet at the Winston Family YMCA on October 9, 2021 to walk a 5K on the North bank of the Jacksonville Riverwalk to raise funds, hope and awareness for mental health. On the day of the event, NAMIWalks participants, mental health advocates, and NAMI partners will step up our strength and energy, where together we can walk in solidarity for mental health!
Mental Health is not for some. It's for all!
What is NAMIWalks Your Way?
NAMIWalks Your Way means putting one foot in front of the other, either actually or virtually. Participants get to use their creativity, with the main rule that we continue to advance towards our goal by leaps and bounds. The choice is yours on how and where you want to make this year’s event fit into this year’s reality.
What participants are doing on event day for the virtual "Your Way": Walk 7,000+ steps for a 5K anywhere; Practice self-care with a favorite hobby: yoga, gardening, knitting; Do a 5K on the treadmill or stationary bike; Create a safe and socially distanced stroll in their neighborhood. The only limit of NAMIWalks Your Way is staying safe, healthy, and inspired. Take photos and videos and share your activity on favorite social media with the link to your walk fundraising page and the hashtag #NAMIJax #NotAlone. Together we can make a difference for people affected by mental illness.
