NAMIWalks Nevada Frequently Asked Questions

We can’t wait to welcome you to the Carson City Nugget located in our beautiful state
capital of Nevada, (507 N. Carson Street, Carson City, NV 89701). Join us as we walk
through downtown Carson City to the Nevada Legislature for mental health awareness.
Together, we can make a difference!

What is the purpose of NAMIWalks?

NAMIWalks is NAMI Nevada’s biggest fundraiser for the year. The funds raised from
NAMIWalks help sustain our free support groups, educational classes, outreach
initiatives, and advocacy efforts. Your contributions make a significant impact in
supporting mental health within our community.

How do I support my favorite Walker or Team?

Go to namiwalks.org/Nevada; click on the DONATE button. Type the name of your
favorite walker or team into the search bar and hit the search button. Click on the blue
DONATE NOW button, enter the dollar amount that you want to donate and write the
person an encouraging message. Then click on the blue DONATE button at the bottom
of the page to complete the transaction.

About the Walk

What is the Schedule for Walk Day?

  •  9:00 AM – Registration Open

  • 9:45 AM – Opening Ceremony and Stories of Hope

  • 10:30 AM – Walk Begins

  • 11:45 AM – Closing Remarks

  • 1:00 PM – Event ends

What types of activities will be available at the Walk?

  • Face Painting

  • Bounce House

  • Food Trucks

  • Vendor Tables

  • Walk Sign Craft Booth – create your own Walk Sign to show your support for a loved one and/or for mental health awareness.

What if it rains?

RAIN or SHINE you can count on us to Walk for Mental Health! We will not let a little
rain or snow flurries stop us. In the event of severe weather conditions, we will notify all
registered participants via email and share updates on our social media pages and
website.

How long is the Walk and What is the Walk Route?

The Walk Length is approximately 0.6 miles to the Legislature, making it a 1.2-mile
round trip. We will walk down Main Street (Carson Street) to the Legislature, cross the
street at 5th Street, and return to the Carson Nugget Arlington Parking Lot to enjoy the
festivities.

Are strollers allowed?

Absolutely! Strollers and wagons are welcome. This is a family-friendly event, and we
look forward to seeing lots of families on May 4th, especially in costumes if they’d like –
May the Fourth be with you! Additionally, we invite you to join us for Advocacy Day at
the Legislature on May 5th to support mental health!

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are welcome! Please bring doggie poop bags to keep the area clean and
ensure they are on a leash at all times.

Registration

Do I need to register to walk?

Yes, everyone participating in the walk must register, but walking is free! You can
register online at NAMIWalks Nevada, or you can register at the event starting at 9:00
AM. If you prefer, you can also request a form to be emailed to you in advance by
contacting us at: emily@naminevada.org.

I registered online; do I need to check-in at the Walk?

Yes, we would love for you to check-in on Walk Day. This helps us get an accurate
attendance count for the event. We will have a booth at the start of the Walk path where
you can check-in.

I am a Team Captain; can I check in my entire team?

Unfortunately, each participant needs to check themselves in upon arrival. Thank you
for understanding!

Donations

I am Team Captain; how do I turn in cash or check donations?

Complete the Team Captain form to list everyone and the generous amount they gave.
Write a single check to NAMI Nevada for the full amount and give this to NAMI Nevada
at the registration table on Walk Day.

Can I donate offline or send in my check donation prior to the Walk?

Yes, we accept checks. If you’re part of a team, please hand your check to your team
captain for donations to NAMIWalks Nevada. Individual Walkers can mail their checks to
NAMI Nevada, 100 N. Arlington Avenue, Suite 250, Reno, Nevada 89501. Please
include the name of the Walker to whom the donation should be applied. 

Can I donate at the Walk?

Yes, we wholeheartedly encourage everyone to donate at the Walk. NAMIWalks is not
just about having a fantastic and uplifting day together, but also about reaching our
fundraising goal. Your donations are crucial in helping us expand free NAMI Signature
Programs across Nevada, making a real difference in the lives of many. Let’s come
together, have fun, and support this vital cause!

Walk T-Shirts

I raised $100 or More; will I be receiving a t-shirt?

Yes, when you check in, you will receive your t-shirt. We strive to have a wide range of
sizes available (from Youth Small through Adult 3XL), but it’s challenging to predict
exact needs for Walk Day. Rest assured; arrangements will be made to ensure you
receive a t-shirt if your size is unavailable on Walk Day.

Please note: T-shirts are only available for individual fundraisers who raise at least
$100. Unfortunately, they are not available for teams.

Vendors, Volunteers, and Sponsors

I am interested in volunteering at this event. What can I do to help
NAMIWalks Nevada?

We are beyond excited to hear from you! Volunteers play a crucial role in making
NAMIWalks Nevada a success. To get started, please go to our Volunteer form and let
us know which of the volunteer opportunities you are interested in. Thank you from the

How can vendors participate in the Mental Health Awareness Walk?

We are excited to invite a diverse range of vendors to join our Mental Health Awareness
Walk! If your organization shares our mission to promote mental health and well-being,
we would love to have you with us. This includes healthcare providers, wellness
coaches, fitness experts, nutritionists, mindfulness practitioners, and professionals from
related fields. Let’s create an event that promotes a health and supportive community
together!

What are the requirements for vendors?

Vendors should offer services or products that support mental health and wellness. We
prioritize community healthcare partners, but we are also open to organizations that
contribute to a holistic approach to mental health. This includes yoga studios, art
therapists, and local non-profits focused on well-being, and vendors offering products
such as candles, crafts, or other goods that promote relaxation and well-being.

How do I apply to be a vendor?

To apply, please fill out the vendor registration form and provide details about your
organization, services, and how you contribute to mental health awareness or well-
being. Applications will be reviewed, and selected vendors will be contacted with further
information.

What are the benefits of being a vendor at this event?

As a vendor, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Connect with a community dedicated to mental health awareness.
  • Showcase your services and products to event participants.
  • Enhance your visibility and network with other like-minded organizations.

Is there a cost requirement for vendors?

Yes, we ask for a small participation donation to help cover event costs:

  • Mental health non-profit, 501(c)3 business: No donation required.
  • Non-mental health non-profit: Suggested donation of $50
  • Mental health for profit: Suggested donation of $100
  • Non-mental health for profit: Suggested donation of $125

If selected, would I need to bring my own table, chairs, and tent?

Yes, you will need to bring your own table, chairs, and tent. Volunteers will be on hand
to assist with set-up if needed.

Can businesses or organizations sponsor NAMIWalks?

Absolutely! We love our sponsors! Businesses and organizations can choose from a
variety of sponsorship levels, ranging from $200-$7,500. Join us in making a difference
by registering as a Sponsor. Go to our NAMIWalks website and click on the
Sponsorship Opportunities” tab. Your support helps us continue our vital work!
