South Street Seaport Promenade
Team Grand Prize (Deadline May 8): The Team Captain and team will kick off and lead the walk with Grand Marshal and King of Walk, Darryl DMC McDaniels, of Run DMC!
This year NAMIWalks NYC celebrates its 11th anniversary! As the largest mental health fundraising and awareness walk in the country with over 5,000 attendees, we walk to promote awareness, fight discrimination, and raise funds. Each time you reach out to your network to secure their support for NAMIWalks NYC, you raise awareness at the same time. And your efforts will help us reach our fundraising goal of $600,000, so we can continue to offer our classes and support groups. Together we are creating a stigma-free environment.
For sponsorship opportunities, please contact Sarah Sheahan at email@example.com or 212-684-3365 ext. 207.
Through your advocacy and fundraising efforts in 2016, we supported 16,000 New Yorkers living with mental illness. Here's what your support did:
More caregivers of veterans took our Homefront class. As the veteran population in New York City grows, we know the need to support family members will grow.
Our Ending the Silence program, which started last year with just a few presentations, reached 797 middle and high school students this year. This vital program raises awareness and change perceptions around mental illness—so important in the fight to end discrimination.
We offered more Bases y Fundamentos and de Familia a Familia classes, reaching many more Spanish-speaking caregivers, which helps them advocate for their loved ones.
Our Young Adult Support Group continues to grow, reinforcing that NAMI-NYC is a place for young adults to gain support during major life transitions.
