Since our son Fleming Jr. was diagnosed with schizophrenia, NAMI has been a gamechanger for our family. Our initial shock and shame has been transformed to hope, helping and advocacy. As cruel as these brain disorders are, even worse is the stigma surrounding them -preventing people from getting the help they need. But we refuse to give in to stigma! Fleming's path is no longer a dead end, but a new journey, full of possibilities. Today, we are outspoken about our son's illness, because we have nothing to be embarrassed about. I wouldn't be ashamed if he had cancer or diabetes, so I refuse to be ashamed of the fact that he has a brain disorder. There is too much at stake, and so much work to be done!

I hope that you will join us on Saturday, June 9th at Furman University for this year's NAMI walk! I am hoping to raise $10000 to help NAMI.  The money you donate will go toward support groups, education outreach programs, and Crisis Intervention Training for the police. ANY AMOUNT that you can give will make a huge difference in the life of a person suffering from mental illness, as well as the life of their families and our community as a whole.

Please JOIN OUR TEAM and walk with us, or support our team by making a donation to a team member listed on our ROSTER. Donations on this page are fast, secure and easy. All funds raised directly support the mission of NAMI to provide support, education and advocacy to individuals and families right here in our region.

Your support means a lot to me and our team!
