Our local Santa Clara County chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is organizing a walking event in late September to raise awareness and support their programs. Mental health is a key part of our overall health, and directly affects our ability to handle stress, enjoy life, be productive and ultimately show up as the best versions of ourselves.
Mental health challenges occur in nearly half of the population at some point in their lives, and the conversation is growing about how best to support those who are affected. Our role as law enforcement often brings us into contact with individuals who are struggling to deal with such challenges. This contact gives us many opportunities to help reduce some of the negative outcomes and connect them to available support services.
Our Office is fully committed to supporting this important cause. Let’s show our support for all community members who live with mental illness by forming a team and helping to raise money!
