On Saturday May 13, 2013 DBSA will be walking with NAMI MASS for the fourth year to raise awareness for mental illness and erase the stigma surrounding it. NAMI is a nation-wide non- profit organization that I learned about when I joined DBSA 11 years ago. I am now Vice President of DBSA and have learned so much about mental illness through the years. I learned early on that NAMI MASS advocates for those struggling with mental health concerns and vigorously follows the activities at the Massachusetts State House and the Capitol in Washington DC providing position papers on legislative bills and campaigns for improved funding for mental health care across the nation. I have attended NAMI Day at the state house and have visited with my representatives providing firsthand account of the needs of my family. We all together can impact our legislators.
I look forward to YOU joining the DBSA team at this annual fundraiser walk. Partnering with the NAMI Central Middlesex Affiliate for the WALK allow a portion of the raised funds to come back directly to DBSA. The more money we raise the more we earn!
The reason we chose the team name “We Are Believers” is because we see the great work that all our members at DBSA have done to make DBSA such a vital support to so many. Not only has our leadership demonstrated commitment and compassion in overseeing our mission, our membership together shows a special kindness to one another.
DBSA walks this year in memory for all who came before us to make DBSA the great organization it is today and those who lost their lives to this terrible illness.
