Welcome to my annual email in which I plead for a donation to NAMI. I really dislike doing this, but I do it once a year for NAMI.
I am walking for NAMI-NYC Metro, the National Alliance on Mental Illness of NYC Metro, because the work of NAMI is very important to me.
Some of you may know that when I was in college, my brother developed schizophrenia. He is a few years older than me, and we had been close growing up. Over time, the illness has taken so much from him.
Families and supporters have great needs when a loved one--a mother, father, son, niece, grandparent, cousin, partner or friend--develops mental illnesses. NAMI is there for those in need. And it is free.
I have conducted research showing that NAMI's Family to family program works. It reduces distress, increases knowledge, hope and empowerment, and improves family relationships.
As the largest grassroots mental health organization in NYC, NAMI-NYC Metro provides support, education and advocacy for thousands of New Yorkers affected by mental illness. NAMI-NYC Metro is a lifeline for many people and families who need a place to turn. NAMI-NYC Metro gives them help and hope.
Donating to me through this page is easy, fast and secure. Your donation directly supports the mission of NAMI-NYC Metro, and it means a lot to me personally.
I am grateful for your support. No donation is too small.
