Welcome to my personal NAMIWalks page. I am walking for NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, because the support and education they provide is very important to me and my family. My two youngest, Greg and Tracy, were diagnosed with schizophrenia in their teens, nearly 17 years ago. The NAMI Family to Family classes were invaluable to me by providing education, and a better understanding of mental illness and how to be supportive as best a family can. We lost Greg to suicide 8 years ago... Tracy is in a supportive housing facility, but not on any medications. We are grateful she is in a safe environment and hope that at some point she will choose to go back on medications.
If someone you know struggles with a mental health condition like this, then maybe you have seen it first-hand. NAMI support groups and education programs help those with a mental illness and their families cope. These programs are offered at no cost to those in need of help and hope. Your support of NAMIWalks will help make sure these programs and services are available to the next family who needs them. Thank you for your consideration of a contribution.
