Welcome to my personal NAMIWalks page. I have created this fundraising page because NAMI, and the work they do, is very important to me. We ALL have friends and family that suffer silently. Approximately 1 in 5 adults will experience a mental illness in a given year. Approximately 1 in 25 adults in the U.S.—9.8 million, or 4.0%—experiences a serious mental illness in a given year that substantially interferes with or limits one or more major life activities. I have members in my family that bravely live with Schizophrenia, Bi-Polar Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD and Substance Abuse and that is just what has been shared with me. My dad struggled with alcoholism and other issues. He had a rocky existence. He was sent to prison at one point and caught himself on fire when I was a senior in high school. His life would never be the same nor would mine or the rest of the family. He was found dead in his apartment surrounded by several gallons of vodka and had expressed his exhaustion with his life.
I work in the behavioral heath field and am proud to be a board member of NAMI New Mexico. NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans impacted by mental illness. I see their progress every day!
Donating to me through this page is easy, fast and secure. Your donation will make a difference in the lives of the 43.8 million adults who experience mental illness in a given year!
