NAMIWalks Washington

Welcome to my personal NAMIWalks page. I am walking for NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, because the work they do is very important to me. My journey with mental illness began when I was a teenager but did not get diagnosed until I was 18. I fight Depression, Anxiety/Panic Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Seasonal Affect Disorder, and Traumatic Brain Injury. I have lived my entire adult life fighting the symptoms but when I found NAMI I finally discovered it was not about fighting but working with my body. I have learned to better communicate with those around me. i have learned to not go places when my triggers are likely to be set off...let's just say you will not find me at Costco on a Saturday afternoon. NAMI has shown me how to live a more productive life and now I can share that with others so they too can live a more productive life.

As the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization, NAMI provides support, education and advocacy for millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI is a lifeline for many people and families who need a place to turn. NAMI gives them help and hope.

Donating to me through this page is easy, fast and secure. Your donation directly supports the mission of NAMI, and it means a lot to me personally.  The first year, 2016 I raised $510; last year, 2017 I raised $800; this year I would like to raise $1,000.

 Thank you for your support.
