NAMIWalks is going to be a little different this year. We’re not canceling it – we wouldn’t think of it when our collective mental health needs are at their greatest. NAMI’s programs and advocacy are needed more than ever, and with your help, we are pleased to present a walk for our times, NAMIWalks Your Way Maryland: A Virtual Event on May 30.

What is NAMIWalks Your Way? 

On May 30, NAMIWalks will be a virtual experience and joined by NAMIWalks across the country. NAMIWalks Your Way means what it sounds like: participants get to make NAMIWalks their own. You can walk a 5K—through your neighborhood, around your backyard, on your treadmill. Or you can do something else meaningful and fun to celebrate our virtual walk day.

What participants are doing on May 30:
  • Walking 3,500 steps for a 5K their way
  • Planning a craft day with their kids 
  • Holding a virtual bake-off with their team   
  • Practicing self-care with a favorite hobby: yoga, gardening, knitting 
  • Doing a 5K on the treadmill or stationary bike 
  • Hosting a virtual paint and sip party

Take photos and videos and share your activity on a favorite social media with the link to your walk fundraising page and tag @NAMIMaryland, #RocktheWalk2020 & #MentalHealthForAll. Together we can make May 30 a day to remember - Mental Health for All: A National Day of Hope.

Morning Exercise with Monquelle Jordan

Did you know that individuals with mental illness die 15 to 25 years earlier than the general population, largely due to preventable health conditions? These grave statistics can be reduced through improved diet, exercise, and smoking cessation.

Start your morning off right with personal trainer Monquelle Jordan for a great 30 minute exercise to get your heart pumping and ready for the day!


NAMIWalks Your Way Maryland Opening Ceremonies

Saturday, May 30 at 11:00 am

Join us for our “Opening Ceremonies”!  Including a warm-up from our friends at FitBound, a welcome from Deputy Secretary of Behavioral Health, Dr. Aliya Jones, and a message from special guest speaker, retired NFL Player Brandon Coleman.  Don’t go anywhere – we’ll be streaming right on !


Paint & Sip with Miriam Hughes

Saturday, May 30 3:00 pm

Join us for our guided paint & sip with artist/instructor Miriam Hughes! Follow along or just tune in as Miriam shows three different techniques you can do with watercolors. Paint with us and drink a non-alcoholic beverage of your choice, like water, tea, coffee, or even chocolate milk!

Guided Meditation with Dr. Misha Martin

Saturday, May 30 at 6:00 pm

Take time to breathe and restore your mind through meditation and mindfulness to help reduce stress and increase resilience.


This session will open at 5:55 pm. Please sign in at 5:55. To make sure that participants have the best possible experience the zoom link will close at 6:15 pm.
