For the second year in a row, NAMIWalks will be a little different — while making a lot of difference. In 2021, it’s still going to be “your way.” Along with our successful virtual option, NAMIWalks Your Way will be hosting an in-person event, in compliance with the local health department COVID-19 guidelines. We continue to prove our resilience and make the event our own.
Our collective mental health needs are at their greatest now. One in three U.S. adults reported experiencing depression or anxiety since the pandemic began. NAMI’s programs and advocacy are needed more than ever, and with your help, we are pleased to present NAMIWalks Your Way on Saturday, October 9, 2021
What is NAMIWalks Your Way?
NAMIWalks Your Way will be an in-person event and/or a virtual experience, united with NAMIWalks across the country. NAMIWalks Your Way means putting one foot in front of the other, either actually or virtually. Participants get to use their creativity, with the main rule that we continue to advance towards our goal by leaps and bounds.
- 9:00 - 9:30 am: Check-in
- 9:30 am: Opening Ceremony
- 10:00 am: Keynote Speaker: David Sheff
- 10:30 am: Walk Begins
- 1:00 pm: Walk Ends
Things you may want to bring: a mask, reusable water bottle, comfy walking shoes, blanket or chair to relax on the grass, and your phone or camera to capture photos and memorable moments.
Participating remotely? We want to see how you partake in style. Share any photos and videos on your favorite social media platform, add your fundraising page link, and hashtag #NotAlone and #NAMIWalksMarin. We will be accepting donations in-person and remotely the day of, so please extend an invitation to anyone who may be interested in supporting our organization. Funds raised stay right here in our community and directly benefit those impacted by mental illness through NAMI’s free education, support, advocacy and community programs.
Creativity Rules - Options for remote participants on event day:
Many participants will meet at McInnis Park but if unable, they can:
- Walk 7,000+ steps for a 5K their way
- Plan a craft day with their kids
- Hold a virtual bake-off with their team
- Practice self-care with a favorite hobby: yoga, gardening, knitting
- Do a 5K on the treadmill or stationary bike
- Create a safe and socially distanced stroll in their neighborhood
The only limit of NAMIWalks Your Way is staying safe, healthy, and inspired. Share your ideas with us!
Remember: United, we insist on Mental Health for All.
