What does it cost to participate?

Nothing, this event is free for our participants.

Is there a fundraising goal minimum?

No, there is not. There is no pressure on the fundraising goal, participants can set their goal from $0 to $50,000. 

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes, you will get a receipt sent to you through the donor drive portal. You can use this when doing your taxes.

Do I need to register to participate?

Yes, you need to be a registered participant to attend the NAMIWalks Orange County 2021 event. However, you can register the day of at the walk itself.

How do I become a team captain?

First - you need to register for the event.

  • Click “Register Now” then fill in your information to create an account: your name, email address and create a password. Then click “Next Steps”
  • Next, you will be taken to the “Registration Type” page. Choose either: Team Captain, Team Member, or Individual Participant
    • Choose Team Captain, then choose the team type, create your team name, and input the fundraising goal. (*If you are a company team, add your company name. If your company does not show up in the search box, click “add company” and input the company’s information.) Then click “Continue to Next Step”Next, you will be taken to the “Registration Details” page where you will fill in all of the necessary information, check the “agree to terms” box and click “Continue to Confirmation”
  • Next, you will be taken to the “Complete Registration” page where you will review your information to ensure its correct then click “Complete Registration”
  • Once these steps have been completed, you will receive an email from both the NAMIWALKS website and myself providing you with the Team Captain Toolkit

How do I join a team?

You may register as an individual, join a team or create a team through the registration process. If the team you are joining is not listed, try searching for just a few letters or contact the Team Captain.

How do I solicit people to join me or support me? 

When you register, you will get a personal webpage. Then you can email or otherwise provide the link for people to click the “support me” button. 

If you are a team captain, you will also get a team webpage.  You can email or otherwise provide the link to people to “join my team” and “support my team”. 

How do I collect money? 

Please encourage your team members and your supporters to make their donations online.  For people who are not comfortable with online giving, they can mail their checks to: NAMI Orange County 1810 E. 17th Street Santa Ana, CA 92705.  Be sure to have them make the check payable to NAMI Orange County and to indicate the person or team that should be credited with the donation. Alternatively, if you are a team captain or individual walker, you can instruct people to mail checks to you and you can send them together, with a listing of each gift, to NAMI OC’s office. 

How do I customize my page?

Once you register or login, you can click on the “resources” tab on the top! It’ll take you to a list of documents that will explain how to customize either your personal fundraising or team page.  In general, click on the pencil icon and that will let you edit the text, add a picture etc. 

How do I customize my link?

You can click on the “Your Page” tab on the top! If you scroll down, there will be a “settings” button that will give you the option of customizing your page link. 

How do I connect my social media to my page?

At the bottom of “Your Page”, there are links to various social media. Just click on the link!

Are dogs permitted at the walk?

No, dogs are not permitted at this walk. Only registered service animals will be permitted.

Is there parking?

Yes, parking is available at the stadium. There is no charge to park in the Angel Stadium parking lot.

Can I walk with a backpack?

No, Angel Stadium does not allow backpacks (unless for a medical purpose) inside of the stadium. Please leave your bags/backpacks inside your vehicles during the walk. You are permitted to have it before and after.

What can I expect during the event?

There will be many attractions to keep you entertained! To list a few, there will be a DJ, food trucks, a multitude of vendors, a photo booth, face painting, and much more!

What are the covid requirements?

At the moment the CDC states there are no requirements for masks outdoors at this time. However, we are encouraging our participants to wear masks and to social distance as best as you can to keep each other safe.

What happens if it rains?

We will walk in RAIN OR SHINE! 

What time do we need to arrive on the day of the event?

The parking lot will be open at 6:30am for parking, however, please stay in your vehicles until registration begins at 7:00am

How long it a 5k walk?

3.1 miles
